Who We Work With
We write trucking coverage for a range of operations across West Virginia, including:
- Owner-operators running under their own authority
- Leased operators running under a carrier's authority
- Small fleets with multiple trucks
- Specialty haulers — flatbed, refrigerated, oversized, and more
- Dump truck and construction-related hauling operations
- Local and regional routes as well as long-haul
If you're not sure whether your operation fits, call us. We'd rather talk it through than have you guess.
Commercial trucking coverage is built from several components, and most owner-operators need more than one. Here's what we typically work through:
- Primary liability — required by federal and state law; covers bodily injury and property damage you cause to others
- Physical damage — covers your truck and trailer against collision, fire, theft, and other losses
- Cargo insurance — protects the freight you're hauling against loss or damage in transit
- Non-trucking liability — covers your truck when it's being used outside of dispatch
- Occupational accident coverage — an option for owner-operators who don't carry workers comp
- General liability — for trucking businesses with a physical location or additional exposure beyond the cab
Not every trucker needs every line. We'll ask about your operation and put together coverage that makes sense for what you're actually doing.
What Trucking Insurance Covers
Independent Means We Shop It for You
As an independent agency, we're not locked into one carrier's trucking program. We represent Nationwide, Progressive, Foremost, and additional top national carriers — which means we can compare rates and coverage terms across companies and bring you the option that fits your operation and your budget.
Trucking insurance rates vary significantly based on your commodity, radius, loss history, and equipment. Having access to multiple carriers matters more in this line than almost any other.

Do I need trucking insurance if I'm leased to a carrier?
The carrier's policy covers you while you're under dispatch, but it typically doesn't cover your truck when you're not on a load. Non-trucking liability fills that gap. You may also want physical damage coverage on your own equipment regardless of your lease arrangement. The carrier's policy covers you while you're under dispatch, but it typically doesn't cover your truck when you're not on a load. Federal requirements vary by commodity and operation type. Most for-hire carriers hauling general freight need at least $750,000 in primary liability. Hazmat haulers face higher minimums. State requirements may apply on top of federal rules. We'll make sure your policy meets what's required for your specific authority.Federal requirements vary by commodity and operation type. Loss history and MVR records do affect your options and your rate, but they don't automatically disqualify you. Because we work with multiple carriers, we can often find coverage in situations where a single-carrier agency might come up empty.
